Masterson’s Pub , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I discovered behind its walls was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .

The State of Affairs: Unhygienic and Neglected
From the moment I entered , it was apparent that upkeep was not a priority at this bar . The floorboards were filthy, and a foul smell of uncleaned spills and uncleaned toilets filled the entire venue . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and sour vomit . The main bar, which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and litter that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The bathroom was in even a more revolting state — backed up, with a broken handle and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was feces.

It wasn’t just a one-off bad night either. After reading through multiple accounts and conversing with residents , it seems that the quality of upkeep (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a recurring complaint. Many guests have reported witnessing insects darting across the counter and evidence of check out here rodent infestations in the adjoining rooms. Described as uncomfortably pushy and disrespectful , Peter Cornwell’s behavior has created an hostile atmosphere for women who attend Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often resembled that of a lurking threat than a genial proprietor .

Pete’s wife, Gillian McKenzie , is a co-owner and frequently seen managing operations . Instead of a post stepping in to mitigate the damage done by her husband’s actions, she seems to endorse his behavior.
